Frequently Asked Questions

Hello! I’m so glad you’re considering a house portrait. Whether it’s a gift for a loved one or a keepsake for yourself, I know how much "home" means. To make the process as smooth and joyful as possible, I’ve gathered the most common questions I get asked below.
If your question isn't covered here, or if you just want to chat through a specific idea, please don't hesitate to reach out—I'd love to hear the story behind your home!
-
I work primarily from photographs. Once you book a commission, you can send me several high-quality photos of the property. I will then create a hand-drawn architectural illustration that captures the character and "feeling" of the home.
-
Not at all! Clear photos taken on a smartphone are usually perfect. It helps if you can provide a few different angles and point out any specific features (like a favourite climbing rose or a unique chimney) that you’d like me to emphasise.
-
Yes, that is the beauty of a hand-drawn illustration! I can "remove" wheelie bins, telephone wires, or cars, and even add in garden greenery or trees that might not be in full bloom in your photo.
-
Typically, a commission takes 3-5 weeks from the moment I receive your photos. If you need it for a specific date (like an anniversary or birthday), please let me know, and I will do my best to accommodate.
-
I generally work from A5, A4 and A3, but I am happy to discuss custom dimensions if you have a specific frame or space in mind.
I work on smooth, high-quality Bristol board, which ensures each drawing remains crisp and allows me to focus on the intricate, finer details of your home.
-
My standard service provides the original artwork on high-quality paper, unframed, to ensure safe shipping. However, I can provide framing advice or arrange professional framing for an additional fee.
-
Prices start at £150 for an A5 portrait. Each commission is unique, so the final price is tailored to the size of the piece and the intricate details of your property.
-
Currently, I primarily ship within the UK. However, if you are located abroad, please do get in touch—I am happy to look into international shipping options and provide a bespoke quote for your location.

My work isn't just a trace of a photo; it’s a creative response. Drawing on my background in sculpture and fine art, I use "mark-making" to translate the physical rhythm and energy of the building. You receive an original piece of art that feels alive.
